Windows for Holt Youth Project

Posted under General

Two stunning new stain glass windows have been fitted into the main recreational area at the Holt Youth Project. The young people created these windows with help from local artist Lilian Shaw. One window represents Holt Country Park and the other represents Blush, our beauty salon.

Photos to follow.

Royal Seal of Approval

Posted under General

The staff of Holt Youth Project arrivde to work in late November to find two offical envelopes had arrived in the post. One was addressed to myself and the other to our manager, Julie Alford. We were amazed and surprised to find that the envelopes contained personal invitations from HRH the Prince of Wales to an evening reception in the magnificant ballroom at Sandringham House. There are approximately 8000 charities in Norfolk so it was a great honour that Prince Charles had chosen us a successful and worthy cause alongside Costessy Carers.

As soon as we arrived at the reception, we were treated like royalty with everyone wanting to speak to us about the Holt Youth Project. Julie and I were asked to greet Prince Charles in the ballroom. He made us feel completely at ease and he was very interested and supportive of our work. He complemented us on the good work done by the Project and we asked him to visit us so watch this space…!

It was a wonderful evening with lovely food in a beautiful setting with amazing company. It was rounded off by Julie and myself being asked if we would have our photo taken for official leaflets and information for Norfolk Community Foundation…and of course we agreed!

Gresham’s Headmaster visits HYP

Posted under General

The Headmaster of Gresham’s School, Philip John recently visited the Holt Youth Project to learn more about the work that is being done there to provide a safe environment for the young people of Holt. He was shown the project facilities by Julie Alford, the Project manager, and met the youth workers, volunteers and some of the young people who benefit from the activities that are on offer.

Gresham’s has supported the Project from its conception in 1998, and Mr John is keen that this relationship continues during his time as Headmaster.
